March in Komi will be slightly warmer than usual

In March, the average air temperature is expected to be 2°C above the climatic norm, in the extreme northeast — within the norm (norm: in the southern regions -4 … -7°C, in the north -8 … -9°C, in the extreme northeast -11 … -14°C), the Komi Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring predicts.

The monthly precipitation amount is close to normal values (norm: 25-41 mm).

It is assumed that during the month, weather conditions will be formed under the alternating influence of cyclones and anticyclones, with some predominance of anticyclones in the second half of the month. For most of the month, the temperature background is expected to be close to the climatic norm and slightly elevated relative to it.

At the same time, in each of the ten-day periods, there will be cooling. In the first ten-day period, the cooling will occur on March 7-9.

In the second and third ten-day periods, most likely, in the middle of the periods. During the cold spell, the air temperature will drop to -18…-25°C, in the north in some places it may reach -30°C, and only in the extreme south not lower than -15°C.

Prevailing daytime temperatures are forecast to be within the range of -1…-6°C, in the extreme northeast — -8..-15°C. At the same time, some days of the second and third ten-day periods will be warmer — in clear weather conditions, the temperature may reach +4…+7°C, in the extreme northeast +2°C. The winter regime will remain on the rivers.
