November in Komi will be warmer than usual: forecasters predict temperatures above the norm and frequent precipitation

In November, the average monthly air temperature is expected to be 2°C above the climatic norm (the norm being -11…-12°C in the far northeast, -8…-10°C in the northern and central districts, and -6…-7°C in the southern districts), according to the Komi Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring.

Monthly precipitation in most districts is projected to be 100–140% of the long-term average (the norm being 42–58 mm).

Weather conditions for the better part of the month are expected to be driven by cyclones. Predominantly cloudy weather with frequent precipitation is anticipated; from the second five-day period onward, this will mainly take the form of snow.

Temperatures during the first ten days of the month are expected to be higher than the climatic norm, while the second and third ten-day periods will likely see unstable conditions, with fluctuations between warmer and colder weather.

On the rivers of the Komi Republic, the appearance of initial ice formations (such as shore ice and frazil ice) is expected to begin from the second five-day period of November, starting in the far north. The formation of a stable ice cover is most likely to occur during the second half of November.
